January 17 sees the celebrations of the first Chinese Landing in Robe, beginning with a procession down Mundy Terrace, Robe, led by Hoey Sang the Chinese Dragon to the ‘Village Green’ Robe Institute Hall and followed by an Official Welcome by Mayor and a Chinese Banquet.
The ceremony also includes the presentation of the Golden Trail: a 500km walk from Robe to Bendigo that follows the footsteps of the first Chinese Gold Miners to arrive in Roben and their journey as they set out for the Victorian Goldfields.
